Do You Know Who Or What Is 'God'?

Desolate cross.
Are you worshiping the CREATOR,
or 'God' the Father and 'God' the Son?

Who or What is 'God'?
Everybody knows they are worshiping 'God'.
But, who or what is 'God'? Do you even know?

We start our lives believing in fairy tales because that is what our parents told us. Most of us believed in Santa Clause, the tooth fairy and the 'Easter' bunny that laid those pretty colored eggs all around for us to find at 'Easter' time. It was a "fairy tale life" for most children until a certain age when they begin to think for themselves and start asking questions. Then, around age 5, 6, or older, the "fairy tales" stop and a small glimpse of reality seems to set in.

But, guess what? Reality does not truly show because the "fairy tales" just become larger, more intense and more convoluted. This is a search to find the truth in a profoundly confusing world. The main problem is that sometimes truth is hard to accept. It may be that we would like to know truth, but when truth comes our way it may seem so farfetched that we do not want to deal with it in any way. I have literally been told by people that they do not want to know the truth. They seem to want to just stick their head in the sand and pretend everything is okay.

To understand truth, we must genuinely study hard and dig deep to find out what the undeniable truth actually is. On the surface, we may think we know what something means, but when we do an in-depth search and find the deliberately hidden meaning of that truth, we may discover that what we have always believed our whole lives, is nothing more than truth covered over with yet another "fairy tale".

Searching for truth is not always easy. Then, what will we do with the truth once we find it? We would have to change our false beliefs, and way of doing things. We would have to re-align our past beliefs and way of thinking, to follow the true path our CREATOR laid out for us in His original Hebrew Scriptures [the Tanakh or Old Testament]. What a novel idea!

The only reason there are different religions is so we do not have to align ourselves with the CREATOR's way of doing things. What does He know anyway? After all, He is only the One who created this universe with the earth and us in it. So, what does HE know? His way is the 'OLD' [Testament] way of doing things; but now there is an easier [New Testament]™ way of doing things! Do you see what just happened there; yet another clever "fairy tale", laid out over and covering up the real truth. For more on this, see the article: Why Christianity?

Therefore, this study is intended for those of you who are sincerely searching for the real CREATOR and His real truth. If you read this study without having the determination to hear the real truth, you will probably become angry that the fable you once thought was truth, is nothing more than a "fairy tale". You see, truth does not necessarily come in an attractive package. In addition, truth is certainly not very attractive when we come to realize that we have been intentionally or unintentionally deceived all of our lives. So, if you're looking for irrefutable truth, continue reading. Allow the Almighty CREATOR to open your eyes and heart.

He was Named 'Gad'.

The first time the English word 'God*' is used in the Hebrew Scripture is in (Genesis 1:1), however, it is a mistranslation of the Hebrew. The mistranslated Hebrew word is ['elowahh] (Strong's #H433) and the BDB Definition is: 'God'. This led to the misunderstanding of the word ['elohiym] (Strong's #H430) as a plural word which it is not. 'Elohiym is singular and refers to the ONE Supreme Being Who is the ETERNAL SOVEREIGN CREATOR.

*NOTE: I use quotation marks to indicate that these are not my words, but belong to someone else. I prefer to use the English words ETERNAL, CREATOR, SOVEREIGN, The Mighty One, or The Righteous One of Israel respectively. The problem with the English word 'God' is what this article is about. It is a pagan heathen word as you will see.

Be aware that the original Hebrew Scriptures do not use vowels so the letters gd could be gad, ged, gid, god or gud. The first usage of this name is not (Genesis 1:1), but (Genesis 30:11).

The very word 'God' in Scripture is in (Genesis 30:11).

(Genesis 30:10-11) (KJV) 10And Zilpah Leah's maid bare Jacob a son. 11And Leah said, A troop cometh: and she called his name 'Gad'.

I suspect that all those who worship 'God' will raise a fuss and argue that, 'Gad' does not mean the Almighty CREATOR of heaven and earth. Nevertheless, take your time and do not jump to conclusions until you have fully viewed and understood the evidence.

The above verse is quoted from the New King James Version and you might think that by itself it looks innocent enough. Just remember that we are searching for truth. If truth were abundant in this world you would not need to search for it.

I do not know of any religion that totally aligns and agrees fully with any other. Do You? The odds would favor all having some truth and much error like the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden of Eden. So, what does that tell us? Simply, that ETERNAL has allowed Lucifer to seed and spread much misinformation amongst the religions of the world. The adversary brags that she has deceived the whole world.

For an example of that let's go back over the verse above and see how Dr. James Strong, a Protestant scholar, and the King James boys have used a lot misinformation to hide the truth and make it difficult to find. Sometimes we have to look deeper into the definitions to get the real meanings of words.

(Genesis 30:10-11) (NKJV) 10And Leah's maid Zilpah bore Jacob a son. 11Then Leah said, "A troop [#H1409] comes!" So she called his name 'Gad' [#H1410].

For example the Hebrew word 'gad': and various numbers in Strong's Concordance and BDB definitions:

#H1408 gad Gad = 'God' of fortune (a Babylonian deity).
#H1409 gad (in the sense of distributing) fortune, good fortune.
#H1410 gad Gad = "troop" Gad, a son of Jacob.

We will go back over the same material from a different point of view and you compare. A point to remember when doing a search for the truth, is to understand a sleight of hand trick used by the Midnight Monks in hiding the truth, is that they will spread the meaning out over several numbers.

The English word "troop" translates from the Hebrew word "gad", pronounced "gawd" in Hebrew. Strong's uses four different numbers to give the complete meaning:

1) #H1407 (coriander--a plant the seed of which resembles manna)--translated 2 times in KJV as coriander).
2) #H1409 ("fortune")--translated as troop 2 times in the KJV).
3) #H1410 ("a son of Jacob, including his tribe and its territory; also a prophet)--translated 71 times in KJV as Gad).
4) #H1408 ('God' of fortune, a Babylonian deity) this true meaning is not used by the King James boys.

To determine what kind of prophet it is in #H1410, we must look back in Strong's to #H1408 which states 'Gad' is a variation of #H1409; 'Fortune', who is a Babylonian deity, but the King James Boys translated it as "troop." Therefore, we have caught Dr. Strong again trying to hide the true meaning of words. It is a deliberate fraud because in the King James Version #H1409 is referred to twice, #H1410 is referred to 71 times, but #H1408 is not referred to at all! True, the definition is in his concordance, but unless you just stumbled on it you would not find it, because Strong's NEVER refers a reader to this true meaning, but only to the hidden meaning.

Now lets read these verses in the Tanakh:

(Genesis 30:10-11) (CEB) (Tanakh) 10Leah's servant Zilpah gave birth to a son for Jacob, 11and Leah said, "What good luck!**" So she named him Gad.

**Footnote C in the Tanakh states: "Kethib begad, the qere reads ba gad 'luck has come'; is connected with 'Gad.'"

Next let's read those verses in the New Revised Standard Bible.

(Genesis 30:10-11) (NRSV) 10Then Leah's maid Zilpah bore Jacob a son. 11And Leah said, 'Good fortune!' so she named him Gad.

Why would this child of Jacob be named 'Gad' and what does this name have to do with who or what 'god' is? To answer that, we will turn in Scripture to the place where Jacob and his family were leaving Laban and going to Canaan:

(Genesis 31:18-19) (KJV) 18And he [Jacob] carried away all his cattle, and all his goods which he had gotten, the cattle of his getting, which he had gotten in Padanaram, for to go to Isaac his father in the land of Canaan. 19And Laban went to shear his sheep: and Rachel had stolen the images that were her father's.

(Genesis 31:18-19) (NKJV) 18And he carried away all his livestock and all his possessions which he had gained, his acquired livestock which he had gained in Padan Aram, to go to his father Isaac in the land of Canaan. 19Now Laban had gone to shear his sheep, and Rachel had stolen the household idols that were her father's.

The NKJV says: "Rachel had stolen the household idols that were her father's." So, what does that have to do with this topic?

First: Laban lived in Ur of the Chaldeans in the land of Babel. Since what Rachel stole was called images or idols, this shows that Laban's family was influenced by the pagan religion of Babylon. The context also shows that Jacob was unaware that the idols had been stolen.

Second: Just like today, we see people with their rabbit's foot, four-leaf clover or statue of St. Christopher hoping to find "good luck." Therefore, it should not be too hard to understand these people taking their charms or images or idols along with them when they moved to a strange land.

Most likely one of the images stolen was 'Gad' and the other was probably 'Meni'. As we will see, 'Gad' is the deity who brings "good fortune" and 'Meni' is the deity who determines the "amount of the good fortune." 'Gad' was the major or father deity and 'Meni' was the lessor or the son deity.

Relation of 'Gad' and 'Fortune'.

We need to remember that Babel or Babylon was the very source and breeding ground for all sorts of myths and false deities. They had one for everything you could think of. Notice this next verse, a few chapters later, when Jacob discovers the idols presence:

(Genesis 35:2) (NKJV). And Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, "Put away the foreign 'gods' that are among you, purify yourselves, and change your garments.

Now, let's go back to our original Scripture, but this time using the New Revised Standard Version and we will check the Hebrew in Gesenius' Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon:

(Genesis 30:10-11) (NRSV) 10Then Leah's maid Zilpah bore Jacob a son. 11And Leah said, "Good fortune"! [#H1408 & #H1409] so she named him 'Gad' [#H1410].

We will quote Dr. Gesenius who adds a new thought to this. Since Dr. Gesenius numerically coded his work to Strong's Exhaustive Concordance he combines Strong's numbers #H1408 and #H1409 as they rightly should be and states:

The English words "good fortune" comes from the Hebrew word 'gad' pronounced "gawd" in Hebrew and Dr. Gesenius states, "It means 'good fortune,' especially the 'divinity of fortune,' worshipped by the Babylonians and by the Jews exiled among them; elsewhere called 'baal.' The planet Jupiter, regarded in all the East as the giver of 'good fortune.'"

As a side note you can investigate: "Jove" in English translates to "Jupiter" in Greek and to "IOVE" or "IOUE" in Latin. So, who cares? Everybody, because "IOUE" in Latin is pronounced [Yahweh].

Webster's states that among other meanings the word "good" it is a euphemism for 'God'. Therefore, what Leah said was "'god fortune'! So she named him 'Gad.'" When the boy was born, Leah, daughter of the idol worshipping Laban, followed her childhood beliefs and named him after the major 'god' "fortune." Accordingly, he was named 'Gad'. Remember that both English words, 'Fortune' and 'Gad', come from the one Hebrew word 'gad' which means the pagan deity 'fortune'.

One more Scripture on the verses in question, this time from The Messenger.

(Genesis 30:10-11) (MSG) 10Zilpah had a son for Jacob. 11Leah said, "How fortunate!" and she named him 'Gad' ('Lucky').

So, you might still ask, so what is wrong with all of that? To answer that very important question, let's go to the book of Isaiah.

(Isaiah 65:11) (NKJV) But you are those who forsake the ETERNAL, who forget My Righteous Mountain, who prepare a table for 'Gad' [#H1409] and who furnish a drink offering for 'Meni' [#H4507].

NOTE: A modern day equivalent table for 'Gad', would be a St. Joseph food table, or cookies and milk for guy in red Long Johns [St. Nick] on the night of December Twenty-fourth. A drink offering would be a glass of wine set on a Jewish Seder table for the prophet [of 'Gad' aka 'fortune'].

In the New King James Version, the footnote for that verse states, "We find that 'Gad' is the deity 'Fortune' and 'Meni' the deity 'Destiny,' both are pagan! 'Gad' [the greater father 'god of fortune'] determines who gets the "blessing or fortune" and 'Meni' [the lesser son 'god of numbers or destiny'] determines the amount of the "blessing or fortune." Be warned, that our CREATOR takes note of those who call on 'Gad' = the deity 'fortune' or 'Meni' = the deity 'destiny'.

It can not be stressed strongly enough, that you MUST search for the CREATOR with your whole heart, soul, and strength. This means searching out the Hebrew meanings of words, and studying many, if not all versions, of the Holy Scriptures. Only then will you be able to tear the sheep's clothing off of the backs of the lying, deceitful, ravenous wolves of this world!

To see verse 11 specifically stated in another version, notice the next verse:

(Isaiah 65:11-12) (TLB) 11But because the rest of you have forsaken the ETERNAL and His Temple and worship 'gods' of 'Fate' and 'Destiny.' 12Therefore, I will destine you to the sword, and your fate shall be a dark one; for when I called, you didn't answer; when I spoke, you wouldn't listen. You deliberately sinned before My very eyes, choosing to do what you know I despise.

"Gad's" Connection with the Present.

I found it very interesting when a well known TV Evangelist was visiting the Bush White House, he was quoted in a weekly news magazine as having said; "'God' is a 'God' of wealth, all we have to do is tap into him." Considering what we have just seen written about the name 'Gad' otherwise known as 'Fortune', it does seem to fit.

We have looked at some history about the name of 'God', 'god', 'GOD', or better stated as 'GAD'. Now let's see if we can make a connection with the present. Notice Webster's New World Dictionary:

'God (gad, god) gott, Goth, guth', and probably any of various beings conceived of as supernatural or immortal, and having special powers over the lives and affairs of people and the course of nature; deity, especially a male deity. An image that is worshipped, idol a person or thing deified or excessively honored and admired.

Please note: That after all of that then Webster added, "the Creator and Ruler of the universe." How sick is that!

The English word 'Gad' itself is of Gothic origin. Webster's states that it means: "Gothic: the East Germanic language of the Goths." It has also been stated that 'god' is an old Teutonic word, so we have the following from Webster's:

"A member of any Teutonic people; especially a German."

Now tell me why, if truth has come down to us through the Hebrew Nation, and if Scripture is true, then why do we look to the Teutonic [German] peoples for who our CREATOR is? Why do we look to the Assyrian people, who it seems, have descended from the Chaldeans to tell us what to call the One Who created the Tribes of Israel? Or, the German people who in the twentieth century alone, singled out the descendants of Judah, a tribe of Israel, for deportation and destruction. This just does not make sense! However, notice that our CREATOR predicted that this would happen:

(Ezekiel 16:28-31) (MSG) 28You [Israel] went on to fornicate with the Assyrians. Your appetite was insatiable. But still you weren't satisfied. 29You took on the Babylonians, a country of businessmen, and still you weren't satisfied. 30What a sick soul! Doing all this stuff - the champion whore! You built your bold brothels [churches] at every major intersection, opened up your whorehouses [churches] in every neighborhood, 31but you were different from regular whores in that you wouldn't accept a fee.

We will return to (Ezekiel 16) later, for it is a very interesting chapter. For review let's look back at the reference, Gesenius Hebrew and Chaldee Lexicon, page 157. We read:

"Fortune, specifically the divinity of fortune, worshipped by the Babylonians and by the Jews exiled among them; elsewhere called 'baal' (the planet Jupiter, regarded in all the East as the giver of good fortune, 'Gad,' a son of Jacob, taking his name from 'good fortune')."

Another definition in Young's Analytical Concordance to the Bible under the title "Baal" states:

Master, possessor, the chief deity of the Phoenicians and Canaanites, as 'Ashtoreth' was their chief female deity.

Now looking under "Baal Gad" it says "lord of fortune." Please think about this:

Do you remember that, "Baal = lord, fortune = Gad, or Baal-Gad = Lord-God"? Also, remember that in the Hebrew and Chaldean language we find that points represent the vowels because the written form consists only of consonants. Therefore, 'Gad' would only have the consonants 'G-D'. It could just as well be spoken as 'Gad', Ged, Gid, 'God', Gud, Gawd, or any other vowel sound since the vowels were only noted by points.

Ezekiel 16. The Idolatry of Israel.

The ETERNAL CREATOR chose The Tribes of Israel to be His nation of Priests (Exodus 19:4-6), a Set-apart nation. Immediately after that Israel made an idol of a golden calf and made sacrifices to it. From that point on, Israel continued to go after the 'baals' (Hosea 2:17) until finally the ETERNAL stated:

(Jeremiah 3:20) (TLB). But you have betrayed Me; you have gone off and given yourself to a host of foreign 'gods'; you have been like a faithless wife who leaves her husband.

Thus, we see that the ETERNAL considers idolatry as being unfaithful to Him. The allegory of a faithless wife to her husband is illustrated by the Tribes of Israel to the ETERNAL. In that regard notice what Halley's Handbook states for (Ezekiel Chapter 16):

"Chapter 16: Allegory of the Unfaithful Wife: This chapter is a very graphic and vivid portrayal of Israel's Idolatry under the imagery of a Bride, beloved of her husband, who made her a queen, and lavished upon her silks and sealskins and every beautiful thing; who then made herself a prostitute to every man that passed by, shaming even Sodom and Samaria." Halley's Bible Handbook Zondervan Publishing, 1965, p328.

With that thought in mind, notice how Ezekiel is quoted from The Companion Bible and most especially the footnotes for that verse:

(Ezekiel 16:15) (KJV) But thou [Israel] didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot[3] because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications[3] on every one that passed by; his it was.

Now we will look at the verse referenced in Halley's above:

(Ezekiel 16:28-29) (KJV) 28Thou [Israel] hast played the whore[12b] also with the Assyrians, because thou wast insatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot[12b] with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied. 29Thou hast moreover multiplied fornication[12b] in the land of Canaan unto Chaldea; and yet thou wast not satisfied herewith.

NOTE: The footnote numbered [3] in verse 15, and those numbered [12b] in the verses 28 and 29 above, all come from The Companion Bible which states these are idolatrous acts.

The Living Bible shows us how The Tribes of Israel played the harlot with Assyria.

(Ezekiel 16:28-29) (TLB) 28You [Israel] have committed adultery with the Assyrians [#H1121, #H804] too by making them your allies and worshiping their 'gods'; it seems that you can never find enough new 'gods'. After your adultery there, you still weren't satisfied, 29so you worshiped the 'gods' of that great merchant land of Babylon, and you still weren't satisfied.

The English word "Assyrians" in verse 28 above is from two Hebrew words in Strong's #H1121 "ben" (bane) which means "son" and #H804 "Ashshuwr " (ash-shoor') and means "Assyria." However, in the translation of the verse, the word "ben" or "son" is skipped over and not translated, even the Tanakh leaves the word "son" out. This raises the "why" question in my mind. Why did the Midnight Monk's leave the word "son" out? The only reason that I can see is that the specific Assyrian 'god' being referred to is "Meni" the lessor 'god', known as the "son". What 'god' is known today as the "son"? You guessed it, the man from Galilee. Therefore, those worshipping the "son" are committing spiritual adultery! For more on this topic see the 'Articles On Christanity' section on the main index page.

In summary.

Please understand that this article is not intended to prove what our CREATOR's name is, but rather to answer the question: "Who or What Is 'God'?" We should note that the law of gravity is real, the law of thermodynamics is real, the law of orbital mechanics is real, the law of equal and opposite reactions is real, the universe is real, and the Supreme Being is real. He is the ETERNAL SOVEREIGN, CREATOR of the Universe, and what He states is real!

The ETERNAL CREATOR's Laws are just as real and immutable. Unlike the natural laws mentioned above, His laws can be broken, and almost every single one of them is broken by us knowingly or unknowingly on a daily basis, even though He tells us not to break them. If we do break them, the punishment we will receive is likewise real. However, His love and mercy are also real. When and if we repent and stop breaking His law, in mercy He will forgive us because He is training humanity to love Him as He loves us. Why is that?

It is simple really, He is building a Family of Beings like Him. Spirit beings cannot have children, so He created the universe with the earth in it which is able to support human life and humans can have children. He knows that humans cannot rule other humans and He has allotted us about six thousand to prove that to ourselves. We learn it through the school of hard knocks, you break the law and you suffer the pain.

When we finally learn our lesson and live by His laws there will be peace on earth. Since we have not learned so far He will step back into the human dimension. He will stand on the Mount of Olives, which will split in two, and He will call for the Mashiach and the prophet Elijah to stand from their graves and administer punishment to the wicked and peace to the righteous.

(Deuteronomy 30:15-20) (KJV) 15See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; 16In that I command thee this day to love the ETERNAL thy CREATOR, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the ETERNAL thy CREATOR shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. 17But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; 18I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it. 19I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: 20That thou mayest love the ETERNAL thy CREATOR, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

He sets before us today life and death and recommends that we choose life. If we do, we will be there with Him; if not, we will simply cease to exist.
